a painting curiosity: new blending techneique discovered by acident :P (and its super easy!)

just quickly before you all rage at me, this  is a new technique to me: if you have been doing it for ages good for you :)

the technique is for the smooth turquoise on the wings

so how to do it?

1) basecoat the wings regal blue (let it dry)

2) make a VERY thin wash/glaze of hawk turquoise, thick enough to still have some oigment but thin enough not to pool (take a little practice)

3) apply a layer of this mix, and hold it under a lamp (to speed up druing time) for about 5 secs: the coat should be dry

4) do the same as above but with a  maginaly smaller (aka like 0.01mm smaller) 

5) repeat until it is a smooth blend until the turquoise is a solid colour.

and thanks to the quick drying time for 1 side of the wing it took me about 5 mins :D

eldar autarch WIP (almost done now :D!)

tonight's WIP is of the eldar autarch! now the trend for eldar nowadays is either a limited palate or darker colors:
FECK That i say! eldar should be rainbows! so here is another WIP of rainbow autarch!

the gold,gems, base and cape pattern need re-done but the rest is finished :D

the gold dosnt 'pop' as much as id like it but sadly the gems on the shield pevent better blends :(    
do you think i should line it with mithril sliver or leave it as it is?

so thats it for tonight :)  any comments?  p.s. has anyone seen the new 'dancing ' lotr casualties? there horrible! but i will be pickling up a 25th edition 40k mini :D

in not sure if i like them , on one hand they are cute and new and keep the crons design asthetic  and mini destroyer wings! howerver i did like the old scarabs and they looked much more alien, unlike these ones. the poses are really good though!

for those sharp eyed people out there you may notice that this is not a wednseday? but the pandas have  explination!

you see yesterday i was all like

arfter long hours of setting up a new lightbox (okay i just got a fancy bulb :D) we now have GREAT photos of the medic :D

i spent too long textureing that :L ( and the break is now more visible due to the mask breaking in transit)

NEW SPACE MARINE DLC: DREADNOUGHTS!!!!!!

OH MAH GAWD

its adorable!!! :D just look at it hugging thos chaos marines :D

on a serious note the DLC adds a new game mode: dreadnought assault and 3 new maps

in dreadnought assault each team tries to capture a point in the middle: whoever captures it becomes a DREADNOUGHT! then the dread has to push forwards and capture more points to get score! if the dread dies the capture point resets and both teams try to capture it again!

this is a definate purchase for me

once ive got minecraft,

which ill buy once ive finished skyrim

but skyrim CANNOT be finished.

over the holidays fuzzbuket developed a unhealthy addiction to bamboo custard creams :D SERIOSULY THOSE ARE FETHING DELICHIOS: asda custard creams and ginger creams are 100% panda endorsed!

and sitting in trees staring into space sitting in a comfy chair playing skyrim :D

and sleeping..... lots of sleeping! and yawing , and being tired. NO, NOT TIERD any ways pandas are -3 tier and consist of a single panda 'lifecast' mini (guinea pigs and dogs are acceptable proxies!) with a random move and a -2+ save anda 1+ iv save,

using JAWS OF THE PANDA WORLD is a shooting attack in which the panda (or proxy ) may eat a model, opposing models that are eaten are removed from play.



so thats it.............

new lightbox setup (smallest/easiest :L)

recently on one of my posts i recived a few comments that the photos wernt the best:  and that means any of these things could be wrong:

arfter a long  3 and a half seconds of thinkings i decided to re-do the lightbox, however i have a few problems:
the old one worked due to a lot of sunlight, sadly at the moment there isnt moch of that :(, as well as the fact that normal WHITE lighbulbs are being replaced by these terrible eco friendly ones that are YELLOW and take ages and give off less light :(

so with a bit of white paper, and the powerlamp i set off to build a small lightbox* (not really a box)

and heres the results

problem: too dark. solution: turn up camera brightness 

good photo: foucused wrong: soloution: re-focus

edited through GNU,imiage manipulation program............ not im not using the abbreviation :L

<3 best shot :) 

lesson learned? well turn up the camera's brightness and move somewhere sunny :L

fuzz here with a quick update (3 pics :D) of some eldar

yep hes  now called rainbow autarch :L (i really should give them proper names or something..... the medics name was a bit silleh :P

anyways heres a quick update of this mini..... a throwback to the days when men were men and elfdars were RAINBOW!

thanks to finecast these are now 3x times harder to paint :(

yes that is a giant clay harlequin mask behind him :L

Eldar autarch: green power weapon!

its always fun in painting when you come across something new :) when i was painting  my eldar autarch I decided to do something new and radical.........

I have ALWYAS painted power weapons blue, like they should be......

I PAINTED IT GREEN.

yep its not as exciting as i make it out :L However green power weapons look suprisingly good, even nicer than blue :) im not sure why: it just does ! so heres the photos!

I needed slightly better photos :)

im trying to get a beter photo set up: i have a VERY powerful desk lamp wich i may try to use: it may be too strong though :(

pre heresy terminator medic: done, good quality photos!

today's post is  the photo gallery of the PHDGTM (pre heresy death gurad terminator medic). painting and blogging about this mini taught me 3 things
-how to 'chip' models
- how to do basic OSL
- that i probably should do minis with smaller names :L

so well , here are the photos!
note that the whole body is scratchbuilt, the gasmask is too and the rest is from GK terminators, a classic bolt pistol and a valkire side weapon housing!

sorry about the gap near the grean line: it broke in transport and hasnt been fixed yet also not the cross hatching on the mask

yep i got this problem a lot with my GKT its the bad casts/moulds: really the metal ones were better
