Read autarch WIP: now with 100% more purple missles :)

yep you read that right i have painted the missle launcher purple :D

why? well i didnt want metallics: too generic and out of place
i didnt want bone:  too hard and out of place
and i didnt want black! why the pesants would think me a lazy painter!

so purple :D and im rather fond of it :D

wow look at that hand, the detailing and blends on it are......... wait-a-sec thats my hand :P

ive run out of purple wash! so the gold isnt quite finished :)

so thats it for tonight!

its that time of the year month week again in which we all look at photos of pandas and realise that this WARHAMMER blogs main source of traffic is furry red mamals :D

no not the gingers   (thers a lot of them in scotland.....)

Another eldar autarch!

Hi :)

i had 2 of these chaps so ive spent the past few days painting the second: who is in a nice shade of red :)

the color was achived by shading blood red with brown: i think this works better than shading with blue (purple) as it gives a more realistic colour!  also im experimenting with a really cool technique for his sword!

so less of my blathering more photos :D

when i am grandmasta i will play fasta, *

a dragon and a blank flag,,,,, more details later!

i tried the teardrop thing on the mask, it needs some more work though

the sword is no longer purple, its now green :D

so thats it! Now you will have noticed the blank flag! now i have decided that a huge amount of my painting motivation comes from this blog so ive decided to let you my loyal commenters choose what goes on the flag! so comment and ill pick the coolest one :D (and if there is only one comment i WILL paint your suggestion :L)**

some slightly brighter pics! sadly because of the increased brightness the colors are slightly dulled: but it easier to see the purple/blue shading (in most cases the deep shadow is blue/purple as im not THAT good at blending to achive such a large blend and not make it look like rainbows!)

REVIEW: warhammer 40,000 aniversery mini.

tonight's post is a review of  the 40k 25th anniversary mini!

drive me closer so i can hit them with my head, no my other head!

and before you ask , yes i was one of those sad gits who cued outside  GW before it opened , i got a fancy pin for doing so :D so onto the review!

its one of those flip out boxes :D

price:
at £20 for a single mini the price may initially seem quite steep, and it is: for that price  you could get a whole squad! however a finecast terminator (which is smaller) is £18 combined with the quality and limited factors compared to other GW minis it is worth the price! (but it still is a tad pricey)

Design: straight from the cover art of RT this mini captures the essence of the painting beautifully, and is  of  beautiful sculpting as well! the only annoying things were the position of one of the sprues: obscuring detail on the orks neck and the pistol. the pistol can be taken many ways: whilst not being of the same design of the original art, instead it is the newer plamsa pistol design, meaning that if this model was to find its way into a gaming army it would be rules legal!

Quality:
the quality of this mini id say is the best finecast experience ive had so far! most likely because GW didn't want so send out replacements of a limited mini the amount of flaws in this model was incredibly minimal! the only ones i noticed  were some INCREDIBLY tiny air bubbles, some tiny mold lines a a small bit of flash on the shoulder: overall the mini only took 2 mins to prepare unlike the  other finecast minis i have worked with.

A moderately expensive mini but if your willing to shell out the cash on it you will NOT be disappointed!
frankly the only improvement would e that if they included a plinth :P
